Winter Weekend in Acadia: Day 2
Jordan Pond to Bubble Rock to Penobscot Summit Loop

Acadia has a rich geologic history shaped by the combination of fire and ice.  Erosion occurring over millions of years created a spectacular landscape of exposed cliffs, cobble beaches, and the tallest mountain on the Atlantic Coast, Cadillac Mountain. When the land surface rose, lakes like Jordan Pond formed in the valleys as the ice sheets receded. The tarn's crystal clear water allows visibility up to 44 feet, and sits between two mountains with Penobscot to the west and Pemetic to the east.
